To Trip over the Cobblestones

I must pave my road,

If I wish to go on.

I have paved a road

That I walk in my thoughts.

Sometimes it’s rough and bumpy,

Sometimes I trip

Again and again,

When walking along my self-paved road.

I note

That cobblestone and tar

Must have run out

Not every stone sits perfectly.

But would that not be a petty?

To walk a perfect road

All day long.

I know I must not pave it too well.

Or I might miss

The cobblestones

That made me

For tripping means

To stand up again

And walk

And trip

Stand up

And walk.

And Tripping gives us purpose.

For if we did

But walk,

Would we not fall asleep
